Tip: The Dreaded Red Eyebrow
Ever notice after you get your eybrows waxed, you look overly surprised for the next couple days, as you deal with redness and bumps? Specifically the redness...nothing's worse than looking like you've developed a weird rash...right between your eyes. Never fear, a tip a day will keep the redness away.
• Aloe gel - the simplest remedy, grab some aloe gel (you likely have it if you've had a sunburn recently) and smooth it over the red area. Aloe sooths your skin, as it's a known herbal remedy for promoting healing as it moisturizes.
• Milk on a cotton ball - just dab it on the red skin.
• Diaper rash cream - I can't vouch for this one since I don't have any diaper rash cream laying around, but a friend swears that it calms the redness immediately.
Whatever you do, don't use hydrocortisone (it'll dry the skin out) or rub and wash the area repeatedly. Rubbing it will make it redder.
If none of the above tips work, try a green concealer. Yes, green. Green cancels out the redness. Physician's Formula makes a duo of green and skin tone concealer.
One quick tip...after you get a wax, gingerly dab your brows to see if there is any remaining wax. If there is, ask your stylist to use a wax remover to get rid of it. Nothing's worse than wax stuck to your face.

Tip: The Shedding Sweater
We all have those sweaters that drive us nuts, leaving little pieces of yarn and lint all over coats, pants, car seats...everywhere. It's enough to wish for a lint roller in every room of your house and office. My friend Kat Woman of Steele (@katwomanofsteel) gave me this handy tip for dealing with the ever-shedding sweater:
"I have a tip (yes me!) that you may or may not know about re: big fuzzy angora sweaters that can shed like mad. Put it in a big zipped bag ziplock or garment or otherwise and freeze it for at least 24 hrs. It sounds crazy but it realllly works!"
Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you. And check out the new Share form on the blog...I'll share your fashion tips and finds too.

Trend: Ribbon-Accented Hair
From Glamour.com - 2010 Hair Trend Alert: the Ribbon-Accented ‘Do
Glamour is reporting that ribbon accented 'dos are the next big thing, and based on the high cuteness factor, I'd have to agree. Braid in a ribbon through your hair, or try twisting two pieces of hair together, running the ribbon through as you twist. There's no wrong way to run the ribbon through your hair, so have fun with it. For short hair, try braiding two small side braids through with ribbon, then pin them back with funky bobby pins. Voila!

Trick: How To Unstick A Zipper
While elementary, it's crucial for any self-respecting fashionista to know how to unstick a zipper. Just so that I can be sure you're "in the know" I'm sharing a few of the easy tricks to unstick a stuck zipper. For history buffs, the anatomy of a zipper.
1. Candle Wax - rub it over the zipper tracks.
2. WD-40 - spray it on a paper towel and carefully rub it over the zipper. Be cautious about getting it on the surrounding fabric...it could leave oily marks.
3. Lead - rub a pencil over the zipper. I personally don't use this one since inevitably I get lead dust all over my clothes.
4. Soap - use a bar of soap or dishwashing liquid to work the zipper lose. Especiallly good if you have a thread stuck in the zipper, as it'll help loosen it too.
5. Take it to a tailor - if it's a favorite piece, take it to a tailor and have him/her replace the offending zipper. I do this for more expensive cocktail dresses that always seem to lose the zipper pull.

Tip: How To Keep Slouchy Boots Up

There is literally nothing more annoying than knee-high boots that insist on slouching down your leg, making for a sloppy looking shoe. Some of my favorite suede boots have let me down by behaving in an inappropriately schlumpy way! So, here are a few tricks to keep your shoes at attention.
1. CHEAP BOOTS: If there's enough suede you can use the binder clips found in any office supply closet to fold over and pinch the excess suede together. If you try this, use the smallest clips you can find or you'll find yourself getting stabbed in the leg by the clips.
2. EXPENSIVE BOOTS: If the boots in question are expensive and worth it, take them to a shoe repair store and ask to have them taken in so they fit your calf.
3. CHEAP BOOTS: Try starch. The cheaper the suede (preferably faux suede if you're trying this) the better you are in the event that the starch discolors the boot. I tried this on brown ones and it only darkened the faux a little...I was fine with it. Or, apply starch to the inside of the boot. You can also try fabric stiffener (but I have not).
4. EITHER: Hollywood Tape is touted by other bloggers to be a great solution to this problem. I've not tried it, as I've always been afraid to put a run in my tights or stockings, but if you're wearing cheapie stockings, give it a shot.
